Wedding Faqs

When should I book my wedding photographer?

As soon as you have booked your wedding ceremony.
The best photographers are booked very quickly.

Why should I use a professional photographer & not uncle Joe?

Uncle Joe may be wonderful,  he may have the latest camera  he may take great photographs but.............

Can he organise all your guests?   Will your film be processed by a professional photo lab that checks every photograph for colour balance & density, or will it go to any old high street D&P outlet with the holiday snaps?  If he is digital will your prints be produced on his his cheap little printer with non-archival materials or just use the print machine at the supermarket? or again will they be produced by a specialist digital professional printing company?
How many weddings has uncle Joe photographed recently?  Does he carry back up cameras?  Will your irreplaceable images be stored in a fire proof safe?   Finally he has come as a guest to your wedding why make him work?
When my daughter was married, a fellow professional photographer took the photographs. I was just a guest with a camera for the day, trying not to get in the way of the professional photographer.

What is Reportage Photography?

This is a style that allows the photographer to take press photography style 'grab' shots. Used correctly as part of the overall wedding album this will give pleasing results. Be aware that because the photographer has no input in arranging the people in the shot you may have backs of heads and expressions that say "we were not ready". I first used this technique many years ago, before it became a popular style. I suggest that when possible, a mix of formal & informal styles are utilised on the day.

Do you allow guests to take their own photographs ?

This simple answer is yes, other photographers may prohibit this as part of their contract. Your guests are subject to the same restrictions as myself, as to where and when photographs may be taken, such as during the ceremony & signing the register.

Can we order photographs for family & friends ?

Yes, there is a full re-print service offering both mounted and framed photographs. Canvas effect & real canvas wall prints. Albums for parents.

How long until I have my photographs?

The pre-view photographs are usually available 14 working days after your wedding, sometimes earlier.
You may keep the pre-views for up to three months to make your selections; you may make your return a soonas you selection is complete. The completion of your order takes around three weeks from receiving your instruction.

Do I wear my top hat when cutting the cake ?

No Sir, a gentleman removes his hat indoors.
(Yes, this really has been asked....twice.)
